Castle construction

Yes, we are done moving and we LOVE the new place. It's nearly twice the size and has about a gazillion times the amount of light.

Here's a picture of our living room (don't mock my bare walls- give me time):

My plant is so much happier now that he's been moved out of the dungeon.

Tonight Justin is on a Young Men's camp-out, so I was able to have some quality mommy-daughter time with Kennedy! It doesn't happen as often as I'd like since I have to bring home the bacon. We were creative tonight. With one of the big, empty boxes we used for packing, I decided to make a castle for Kennedy. She helped decorate it.

The duct tape castle:
Yes, those are Christmas pajamas. She wanted to wear them tonight. If there was ever any proof to show I was crafty...well, here it is.
(I think I may have found another use for duct tape)

Very clever indeed - I love the duct tape trim and her beautifully hand written sign. I'm sure she had a ball.

I seem to recall Kristin having a box house. And I believe Michelle had spent some quality time inside it....

Hey Ashley!! Isn't the blogging world great! I am so glad you found me. I am so excited to be able to keep up with you and your family now! I can not believe how big Kennedy is...Holy Cow! It has been so long since I saw her and it is blowing my mind how much she has grown! She is adorable. And I love the castle, you are such a cool mom :) Tell Justin I said hello.

I forgot to mention how much I love all that light spilling into your living room. A far cry from the former "dungeon"!

Yes, one of my favorite gifts as a kid was a big cardboard box from an organ. One day I had been over to the hunsaker home where Chris & I had a blast in some big box in their basement - I was considerably older than Kennedy. But I announced to my parents I wanted my own box. For Christmas I got it. And

I wallpapered it (Contact paper), cut windows & a door, and had a light run into the top of it so I could sit in there alone and read or whatever. It was joyful.

Allison liked to lock Michelle in there until she whined to be let out. I didn't like that much; I was rather possessive of my box.

I hope Kennedy has as much fun in hers, even though she doesn't have two siblings she is trying to escape.

Kris- you have always been so creative! I didn't even think to "wallpaper" the castle... although I have some cute wrapping paper I could use :)

Mom- I can't believe Michelle is still your best friend after you locked her in the house... lol

Congrats on the moving in! I know what a stress that can be. Darling little castle. I'm sure Kennedy just loved it! Very crafty indeed!

My teen years where traumatized due to being locking inside Kristin's play house by her evil sister Allison. Not only did she lock me in there but she did it with Kevin Hill and (?) with her, they all laughed and mocked me, it was horrible.

Kennedy looks so cute! I love the playhouse, your printing is very cute too...
