Double Trouble

I am one of those incredibly lucky people who has a very best friend- like a soul mate. We've been BFF (um... like...helloo?? "Best Friends Forever"?) for over 14 years. To make things more convenient for people who meet us, her name is also Ashlee.

That was taken about 10 years ago.

This was taken about 10 months ago.

AND we, the Ashleye (pronounced "Ash-lie," which is plural for "Ashley." Kind of like the plural of "fungus" is "fungi"? Same concept.), try to go on annual trips, just the 2 of us. So far we've only been on one. And that was enough to get us hooked. We went to Cali and played on the beaches the entire time. (Best vacation of my life!)

This year we planned on going to Seattle to visit mi madre. We booked the tickets way back when, because they were on sale, and then, a few weeks later, we found out that Ashlee #1 (that's what we call her because she was born first) was pregnant!! YAY! And the trip was still on, because she would barely be in her third trimester. And we could go baby clothes shopping!

Then we find out that... what?? Not one baby...

... but TWO BABIES!!
Aren't they cute??

It's weird, but it kind of feels like they're my babies. I know for a fact I'm not the father, but I've known her quite a bit longer than the father has, so I think I should have just as many parental rights as he does, if not more. I told her that, if they're both girls, she should name them both Ashley. She didn't think that was such a good idea, but I still have 6 months to talk her into it.

So we start worrying about the trip. Mostly because the dumb doctor said she's at higher risk for having twins, it's not safe to fly in your third tri-mester, blah, blah, blah, what do they know? Gosh. Hehe

Our trip was scheduled for the end of June, which was the perfect weekend, so it was very difficult to find a different weekend that would be good. Turns out, the weekend that works the best for everyone is Mother's Day weekend! That means we get to go way sooner than we had planned, which is excellent, and what better way to spend Mother's Day than with my beautiful, wonderful, talented mom??

So, in 3 weeks we will be on our fabulous, much-needed, Ashleye vacation. We will relax, goof off, shop, play, talk about boys (our boys, of course) and eat. I can't wait.

Everyone needs an Ashlee.

Everyone does need an Ashlee. Mine is named Michelle.

I'm so excited you're going to be here on Mothers Day (or ANY day, for that matter : )

You guys are very cute together... and so much fun. Will you "oah" through my condo to see if you can find which note resonates? :)

Where is Ashlee by the way? She needs to visit your blog!

Who dubbed you the Ashleye? Did I first call you that? Or Steve? Someone else? Do you even remember? All I know is that's what we've always called you together.

Hey thanks for your comment on my blog. I love comments! (who doesn't?) I am glad to know who is who in that pic. And don't worry you are not any more obsessed with twilight than the next 20 something woman...
Looks like you have yourself a lifer friendship. I love the idea of an annual vacation. I am all for that... I may have to contact my lifer and arrange some out of town getaway...

Sarah- I actually have some older pictures, but I didn't want to dig... maybe sometime I'll have to post some REALLY old pictures. Then you can laugh at me.

Mom- we will definitely find the pitch of your furniture. LOL- we were definitely goofy. But you started most of it ;)

Melanie- seriously, sometimes you just have to leave the kid(s) with the hubby and get away for some girl time! It is so rejuvenating... my husband appreciates how much more balanced I am after having "lifer" time. (I like that word, thanks- haha!)

When a woman has a lifer friend or kindred spirit she is truely blessed. It's funny how you can be apart for long periods of time, yet when you get together again it's like time stood still and you pick up right where you left off. I know you'll have a blast. And what a wonderful mother's day gift for both you and your mom to be together.
Love you :o) Grandma

How fun! Life best friends are amazing...

There's this weird thing where you read each other's minds and then giggle or cry accordingly.

Every girl should have a BFF.

Man, you are the funiest girl (sorry, woman) ever! Your blog is always sure to make me giggle. I am so excited! I can't wait! By the way, do you think that it is weird that I can remember the pic from 10 years ago being taken, but seriously have no recollection of the one from 10 months ago? You are so right... everybody needs an Ashley. - Ashlee #1
