No more complaining.

I don't know if it's just a 7 year-old thing, but Kennedy sure complains a lot. I'm tempted to just take everything she owns and dump it off a cliff.  Instead, lately, in order to (hopefully) mitigate the negativity, each time I hear her complain, I tell her she needs to tell me 5 things she is happy about. Sometimes it takes a bit of cajoling, but eventually she is able to come up with those five things. After she's listed them off, she's usually completely forgotten about her initial complaint. Success! ... And then 5 minutes later she finds something else to complain about. ... *sigh.  It's a good thing she's usually a sweetheart.

Anyway, since it's Thanksgiving month, I decided I should focus a bit more on those things that make me happy. Each day (or almost each day) am going to list the things I am grateful for, here on my blog.  I can't promise that I will blog every day, but I will at least try.

Here goes.

Yesterday I was thankful for my brother and his wife. We stayed up until almost 2:00 a.m. on Monday night, just talking and being silly.  I love them both so much- and I can't wait to spend an entire week with them next week :)

Today I am grateful for the sunshine!  It was rather cold, rainy and snowy, yesterday- and today the sun is shining happily. And I LOVE it.

Today I am also grateful for Boston Cream Pie flavored Yoplait yogurt. It sure hits the spot for an after-breakfast snack.

What are YOU thankful for?

That's a great idea - my 6 yr old complains a lot, too!

I'm thankful for miracles right now. (Details are on my author blog) ;)

Bellingham. Today I am thankful for beautiful Bellingham Washington and the happy fact that I live here. I finally live in the *right* place. In a nice house. With a great family.

Today I am thankful for the internet so that I can read what you are thankful for.

Oh and I'm thankful for my Arizona sun, shining down upon my green grass and ripening oranges.

We've had those moments with Emily and Marie quite often ourselves, even today, despite the fact that we have been here in one of the most amazing places on earth. I think we will be trying that trick of yours next time. I am grateful for soft comfortable mattresses these past couple of nights and big soft fluffy pillows, the likes of which can scarcely be found anywhere in Costa Rica. And, I am grateful for you to remind me to think of the things that make me happy. :)

I am grateful for you, sunshine of my life.

I'm grateful that I live in the beautiful northwest with it's fabulous fall colors and not-too-hot-not-too-cold weather....

I don’t think it’s a 7 year old thing, I think it’s a kid thing. We give kids everything they ever want, and they still find things to complain about. I love the idea of having them say what they are thankful for, I will just have to try it. Thanks for the brilliant idea!

I'm thankful for (believe it or not) facebook. Even though I absulutely hate it it has allowed me to reconnect with friends and family that I care about, like you.

I'm thankful for the beautiful place I'm lucky enough to live in.

I'm thankful that the Mob made the Bellaggio Hotel in Vegas. We're going again in January.
